The Wauwinet in Nantucket, Massachusetts
Pi Pizzeria - Outside of town. Walk-in or take-out, its legit!
Wicked Bakery – Get the “Toad in a Hole” and the Morning Buns are a MUST!
Black Eyed Susans – Cozy breakfast spot.
Lemon Press – Great coffee, juices, and smoothies.
Handlebar – Another favorite coffee shop.
Sandbar Jetties Beach - Good for drinks and atmosphere.
Millie’s – Our island favorite, love the Cisco Po’Boy, Eel Point & Tuckernuck tacos, and Steps Beach quesadilla.
Something Natural – Great fresh sandwiches and the best cookies.
Provisions – More great sandwiches, good to take to the beach.
The Nautilus – Island cuisine with an Asian twist, our favorite dinner spot!
Galley Beach - Great spot at the Cliffside Beach Hotel on the sand. Great lunch and brunch spot as well!
Cru – The hot lobster roll is a must have and awesome spot on the wharf, good vibes!
Lola 41 - Great vibe, patio seating is recommended as it will be a little quieter.
Bar Yoshi - Goto spot for sushi, located on the Old South Wharf shell path.
Sayle’s Seafood – VERY casual but the freshest most delicious seafood, zero vibes.
The Juice Bar – Our number one favorite on the island, can’t leave without the fresh waffle cones and hot fudge! Go during the day because the line will be around the block in the evening.
Aunt Leah’s Fudge - Tiny spot, but a MUST for local fudge. It’s insane!
Force Five Water Sports Candy Store - Make your way into this water sports store and walk all the way to the very back of the store through the hidden door to the most amazing candy store with literally every type of candy you can think of! It really is the best candy selection you could ask for!
Explore the town - The town of Nantucket is incredibly quaint and charming. Great to shop, eat, or even just to walk the historic cobble stone streets. The nicest thing about town is that most of the stores are unique to the island and owned by residents and we love supporting local!
Cisco Brewers - This is hands down one of our favorite spots on the island. They offer a variety of local beers and cocktails and live music. There is also a handful of food stands and food trucks local to the island. Best vibes on the island! 508-325-5929
Nantucket Tavern and Gazebo - Great for a drink and people watch on the bustling wharf at the end of a day and also see the charter boats pulling back in from the day with a few sharks! 508-228-1266
Beaches - While Nantucket has a ton of beaches, some of our favorite beaches are Jettie’s Beach, Miacomet Beach, Madaket Beach, Step’s Beach and Surfside Beach. Pick up sandwiches from either Something Natural or Provisions and enjoy a beach day. If you rent a Jeep, they will normally come with permits to drive-on the beaches that are open to vehicles for the season.
Sconset Bluffs - Siasconset is a small but charming town on the island. The Sconset Bluffs walk is along the cliffs of the island with beautiful ocean views and close ups of some of Sconset’s beautiful homes and gardens. If you make it out, be sure to visit the Sconset Market and snag one of their famous blueberry muffins!
Miacomet Golf Club - Driving range and Nine hole accessible course on the island with some of the greatest views. They also have a grill. Concierge at The White Elephant and The Wauwinet will be more than happy to book tee time on request. 508-325-0333
Young’s Bicycle Shop - Rent Bicycles and / or a Jeep in town and explore the island. Opens up a bunch of island possibilities, including driving on designated beaches! 508-228-1151
Great Point Lighthouse - Located in the northernmost part of the island near The Wauwinet, Great Point Lighthouse is one of the most historic lighthouses in New England and can be accessible with a Jeep driving along the beach (this also depends on bird nesting periods). At the very tip of the point is a great fishing spot where a rip is formed from the Nantucket Sound and the Atlantic Ocean coming together.
Brant Point Lighthouse - Easy access at the end of the road from The White Elephant Inn right past the Coast Guard Station. Walk right on the shell beach and to the point where the lighthouse is. Great spot for boat and ferry watching, a picnic lunch, sunset, and definitely worth the picture opportunity!
Bill Fisher Outfitters - Inshore and Offshore Fishing with Captain Bill Toelstedt and crew! Slots book up quickly in season, so it is best to book in advance. Capt Bill can be reached at 917-584-5270
Nantucket Whaling Museum - Literally right in the middle of town (across the street from the Juice Bar!) and worth a visit believe it or not! Loads of history and really takes you back in time. Definitely head up to the roof deck for a view of the entire town and harbor, its worth the pic! 508-228-1894
Barlett Farm - Oldest and largest family owned farm on island. Awesome market, food, and shop! Take a farm tour and pick your own flowers and veggies! 508-228-9403
There are a few ways of getting to Nantucket for the weekend. Driving to Hyannis in the Cape and taking the ferry over is definitely a unique experience for those traveling from the northeast. Should you choose, you will need to make reservations on either the car ferry to get your vehicle on island or take the passenger fast ferry and leave your vehicle on the mainland. Either way, you can make your reservations at The Steam Ship Authority or at Hy-line Cruises - please note: reservations will not be available till January 1st 2025, but we do recommend checking before the end of the year incase they open up early.
If you prefer to fly to Nantucket, JetBlue does offer direct flights from JFK and Laguardia airports daily. Additionally, Cape Air offers flights direct from Boston, Massachusetts.
**Amtrak is another option for travel from either Penn Station or Stamford into Providence, Rhode Island. From Providence, it is an hour and 15 minute drive to Hyannis for the ferry and Ubers are available from the Providence Amtrak station.
